Community Resource Hub Opening Soon!!

We are excited to share that the Social Justice Center is reopening our community workspace and launching our new Resource Advocacy program!! Located on Williamson Street, right in the heart of the East side of Madison, the Social Justice Center has always strived to be a vibrant hub of social justice activity, collaboration and activism. The new Resource Hub will enable us to advocate on behalf of our community members on a whole new level!

Several of our current member organizations will be sharing this flexible workspace and hosting events for the community. These groups include Progressive Dane, Madison Mutual Aid Network, Madison InfoShop, IWW-Madison GMB, Madison-area DSA — with room for more organizations to join.

In addition to a collaborative workspace, this will also be home to our resource advocacy and community support program. We aim to provide a place where community members can reliably access key resources and essentials while working with advocates who are trained in trauma-informed practices, crisis response and de-escalation.

Our resource advocates will play an integral role in supporting the program and community. They will assist in connecting individuals to available resources related to their specific needs, such as their case managers and other community agencies. Assistance in applying for jobs, rental properties, phones, bank accounts or other needs will be offered. Including navigating paperwork and providing equitable access to workspaces and computer times.

Together with our member organizations and SJC volunteer team, we will be hosting regular trainings on a variety of topics, including monthly Narcan and Know Your Rights trainings.

At SJC we treat our visitors of all walks of life with respect, patience and without judgment. All are welcome.

In the near future, we will publish the activity calendar with times and days when various resources are accessible, including open computer time and community partner drop-in hours.
