In order to send money to someone in a Wisconsin prison, you need to use the Access Corrections online payment system, which means making an Access Corrections account online. This guide will cover how to make your account as well – just follow these steps.
Step 1: Go to Access Corrections (https://www.accesscorrections.com/#/), and click the read ‘Send Money’ button.
Step 2: Select the state ‘Wisconsin’ and the agency. For Wisconsin prisons, select ‘Wisconsin Department of Corrections’ as the agency.
You can also send money to someone in Kewaunee, Milwaukee, Rock and Winnebago county jails through Access Corrections, select the corresponding agency (Dane County jail does not use Access Corrections as of April 2023).
Step 3: Enter the first and last name, OR the ID number of the recipient.
Step 4: Once you enter the information until step 3, it will ask you to create an account. You must have a valid email address to verify. Type in your email address, password, and click the checkbox. Make a note of the email address and the password so you can use the same account for next time.
Step 5: After creating the account, you will see this screen. Enter the amount of money you want to send, and click the checkbox. Please be aware that there is a handling fee to every transaction and the fee varies depending on the amount of the money you are sending. The fee will be automatically added to the amount of money you need to pay. After entering the amount of money, click the green ‘Review’.
Step 6: Review the amount of money you are sending, the handling fee. Enter the information of the card you are using to send the money. Then click the green button ‘Pay Now’.
You’ll get a payment receipt once the payment goes through. The funds will be deposited on their account!
Be sure to remember the email and password you used to make your Access Corrections account if you want to send money again, you’ll just login and use this same system.
