Clothes & Furniture Resources

The following resources offer clothing and furniture, either for free or at a reduced cost. The clothes options range from everyday clothes, to more professional options that one can wear to a job interview. The resources are listed below:

 

Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVDP) — aka St. Vinny’s!

Clothing

  • May be eligible for a clothing voucher every six months.
  • Each clothing voucher is worth $50 for each eligible adult and $30 for each eligible child (17 years old and younger)

 

Furniture

  • Furniture vouchers available once every 5 years for use 
  • Furnishings SVDP may be able to supply include a sofa, a living-room chair, a card table & chair set, plastic crates, and inflatable beds.
  • You may also be eligible to receive dishes, glassware, utensils, pots, pans, bedding and linens.
    • These items may be made available if you haven’t received these items from SVDP within the last year.
  • If you have an infant or toddler in the household who lacks a proper crib, SVDP can offer a new portable crib for the child.

 

Bethel Lutheran Church

Location: 312 Wisconsin Ave, Madison, WI 53703

  • Tuesdays and Thursdays 8:30am-4:30pm, provide number services to people experiencing homelessness like access to clothes, hygiene products, bathrooms, library, and a computer lab. 

 

East Madison Community Center

Location: 8 Straubel Ct, Madison, WI 53704

  • First Impressions Program- Provides men’s professional clothing for ex-offenders who want to make a positive first impression when looking for employment. Individuals can select from suits, sport coats, dress shirts, belts, ties and occasionally dress shoes. 
  • FYI… if you’re looking to donate items, “EMCC is not accepting household items and general clothing donations during July and August. This program may resume in the fall if EMCC with volunteer support. Men’s clothing will still be accepted for the First Impressions Closet, Mon-Fri 9-5 pm.” according to their website.

 

St Paul Lutheran Church

Location: 2126 N Sherman Ave, Madison, WI 53704

  • Thursdays and Fridays 10-2pm, Saturdays 10-12pm. Free clothing for men, women and children.
